I knew taht the civilains were being treated poorly and the Talbian was controling everything. I learned the reality of what they were doing for punishment and how horrible it must have been to live there. Amir had a easy childhood from other afgan children, his father was very weathy and didnt have any problem providing for Amir. When Amir moved to america his father had to work at a gas station, they were doing ok but did not have the money they once had. On the other hand he was safe from any danger. I think that Amir's move to AMerica was a good thing because he did not have to worry about his every move, he was able to live his life and go to school like he always dreamed of doing.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"18568781","dateCreated":"1262679570","smartDate":"Jan 5, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Dalicia","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Dalicia","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1255276433\/Dalicia-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/periodckiterunner.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/18568781"},"dateDigested":1532288652,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"how i feel about Afghanistan","description":"I always thought of Afghanistan as a poor country in the desert with unfair treatment towards there people..with the images that i seen on tv from the war i just felt bad for the people who lived there and never thought anything else about it.But after reading the book I seen that it wasn't such a bad place to grow up. The diffence between Afghanistan and America is that we live in a land of choices and if we are poor its only by choice because we have the opportunity to change that but there if your poor thats what you'll stay. For the people who move over to America before the war they must have thought that it is kind of difficult to settle in because most of the people were rich before. For people like Baba and Amir\u2019s father in law they never really settled in because their heart is always on going back to Afghanistan. On the other hand for people like Amir it is a fresh start to forget the entire pass and look forward to the future, so it is easier for them to settle in. In other word, the country itself is powerless in military strength and poor economy mangement compare to first rate power such as United States and China. After reading through the book my impression on Afghanistan change dramaticly. First of all, Amir's life have everything or more than a regular citizen of the first world power have such as benz and villa. Second, ever since the 9\/11 incident, I have thought Afghanistan as a place for hell since it was control by terroist instead it was a beautiful place fill with nature and before the taliban take over. In the novel, it show the culture difference between Afghanistan and United States. For instance, Amir's wife have equal right as any man and United States give people the freedom to become someone else if someone try. In Afghanistan once something is decide it will never change just like Hassan will never be a pashtun. But thanks to the freedom given by the United States people can easily start a new life in this country and with certain luck those people can even became a citizen of this great nation. People will not care if someone is from Hazara, but instead of how much the effort a person give to reach his goal and this is one of the major difference that make this country suprior than Afghanistan.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"18567485","dateCreated":"1262664661","smartDate":"Jan 4, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Johnna.H","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Johnna.H","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1255312979\/Johnna.H-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/periodckiterunner.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/18567485"},"dateDigested":1532288652,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Afghanistan views","description":"Before I read The Kite Runner, I thought of Afghanistan as a very unpriveldged place. I now see that there are beautiful buildings and tournaments like the kite flying contest, and people who are pretty much like americans, just a little different. When I thought of afghanistan children, I thought of them being very upset all the time because life for them is hard. But, americans and afghanistans arn't as different as people view them today. Afghanistan is simply viewed as a horrible place, only because of the news, and tv shows and movies show what they want to believe of afghanistan. The television altered my image of Afghanistan, before the war I never really even know where Afghanistan is, but by reading this book I could tell that before the war it must have been a beautiful place. The difference between the culture in Afghanistan and America is the difference between their social classes. Ever since 9\/11 people have had negative opinions about the people who reside there and the country itself. Personally I feel as if I am one of those people. Before this book, due to the media, I thought of Afghanistan as a desolate desert. This book has dramatically changed my outlook. Hosseini's words were able to create a mental image in the reader's mind and open their eyes to the beautiful country. Before this book I had never thought twice about this country, but now I feel as if I am able to gain a new perspective. Unfortunately now the country is tarnished with violence.
