When the General approved Amir was asked to talk to Soraya, she told him of her fling with a Afgan man. Amir was a little taken back but he excepted it and it didnt bother him. The differances between american Afgan women and woman living in the taliban was that if this happened over in Afgan Soraya would of been killed infront of thousands of people, here she was hidden and had to move so that people would not talk about her and her family. But it always seemed to be Amir telling Hassan what to do and Hassan would always end up in trouble and not Amir.
\n
\nThere is a major diference in Baba ans alis' relationship, and that is that Bab treats ali more like a friend. We do not see this in Amir and Hassans' relationship. As we get deeper into the story we learn that Hassan is actually baba's son.

The biggest event that happened was when Hassan was raped by Assef, Amir stood in the backround hidden. Amir never seems to fully except the fact that he is friends with Hassan. In the beginning of the book Amir talks to the reader about how he and Hassan would play pranks. Despite the fact that it was Amir's idea, Hassan always takes the blame, while Amir merely observes. This seperation could be due to the fact that they are from different social classes. Amir, being a Pashtun and Hassan , being a Hazzara forces
\nthese two to be viewed differently.
\n
\nWe see the opposite relationship with Baba and Ali. Baba treats Ali as more of an brother than an acquaintance. As the story progresses we find out that Hassan is actually Baba's son as well, which i the reason why he seems to care so much for him.

This is what fuels him to do everything in his power to impress him. Amir goes to every extent to make his father notice his good actions, for example, when Amir was in the kite flying contest, he kept looking over at Baba to see if he was watching and cheering for him. Finally, when they won the contest, Amir told Hassan to get the winning kite, which leads to Hassan getting raped. Amir watched him get raped but didnt really care to stop it, because as long as he got the kite, and his father was proud of him for winning, thats all that mattered to him. This cost Amir and Hassans relationship to kind of fade away. Babas relationship with Amir seems to be different then his relationship with Hassan. In that he treats him in a condescending way, as a superior. Whereas hassan, in my opinion, treats him as though he was sincerely a friend. There's no grey area in hassans mind when it comes to his relationship with Amir, he is there for him no matter what.
\n
\nBut Amir doesn't mutually feel this way For Amir it is quite the contrary. He believes that hassan is his servant without even knowing it. Deep down he wants to be a good friend to him, but in all actuality his actions show that he has been raised to know that hassan is inferior to him.
\n
\nThis may be to the fault of baba, who has Ali and hassan live in a shack, and employs them as servents. Amir doesnt have the same comradery with hassan that is shared between Baba and Ali. Which is most likely because of the contrasting environments that Amir and His father had grown up in.
\n
\nBut the irony in all of this is that Amir and Hassan actually are equals, because they are both sons of Baba, making them half brothers.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"18384739","dateCreated":"1261367041","smartDate":"Dec 20, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"changchan","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/changchan","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1255313571\/changchan-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/periodckiterunner.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/18384739"},"dateDigested":1532288662,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Amir and Hassan's relationship","description":"In a way Amir is the same as Baba, they never really respected their servant. Amir betrayed Hassan by not coming to his rescue when Hassan was in trouble and Baba dishonored Ali by sleeping with Sanaubar. The relationship that Amir thinks that he and Hassan has is just a servant to a master, but sometimes they are really close. Like when Amir first heard the news that Hassan died really shocked him. I think this is because very deep inside his heart Hassan holds a very important space just like siblings. Hassan thinks that Amir was always his best friend even though he is Amir\u2019s servant this is why Hassan does almost everything that Amir tells him to. What makes them so different would have to be due to the environment they grew up in because since they were little they were all taught that the Hazara were always inferior to the Pashtuns. This is why even though they are friends Amir will still not see eye to eye to Hassan. I think Amir inflicts small cruelties on Hassan because some how he is secretly jealous of Hassan. In the book when the first shot was heard when Ali hugged Amir and Hassan, Amir was jealous that Hassan as a father that loves him so much and his father thinks he\u2019s useless. If the book never told me that Amir and Hassan were brothers of the same father but different mothers I would have never imagined it because of how Amir has acted toward Hassan.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"18438725","body":"The book show many signs of Amir and Hassan was brother like Baba have never forget Hassan's birthday, even through he never consider Ali as a friend. Sometimes evil can bring a greater good in the book, for Amir thought his father lend money to others and building orphanage is only to redeem his bad deeds. Same with Amir the incident of watching Hassan get rape by Assef only to bring a greater good. After seeing Rhim Khan Amir went to search Sohrab, the son of Hassan, in Afghanstan during the Taliban rule. There he reunite with Assef, but this time he did not back down and continue to stand before him to have Sohrab back where he belong. Later Amir adopt Sohrab and reopen his heart to the public. The only reason keep them apart is their social status. Baba and Ali has similiar relationship, since they were grow up together just like Amir and Hassan. But Baba never consider Ali as a friend because Ali is a Hazara and Baba is a Pashtun. Amir and Hassan always spend time together to the point where talking is meaningless. They are like brothers, or the feeling of the other person is another part of themsef except the difference in class. Some times Amir tease on Hassan of his illiterate and show his cruelty to Hassan. The reason is Amir have always jealous of Hassan, for Baba treat Hassan almost equally to Amir. The true relationship between Amir and Hassan show up when Amir ask Baba to change their servant.
