The majority of Afghanistan practices Islamic beliefs.
The dominant ethnic group is Pashtun. They are either farmers or nomads.
Afgans are culturally artistic. There art works consists of embroidered baskets, nomadic camel caravans covered in woven finery and fine-filligreed flourishes that decorate many buildings in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan has the highest illiteracy rate in Asia.
Boys and girls are schooled separately
There are an average of 58 people to a elementary school class and an average of 28 to a secondary school class.
They use a secular public education system and the traditional Islamic madrassa school system.

Afghan Law Requires Women to be Completely Covered
There Islamic Rights According to God(Allah)-the right to inheritance, the right to vote,the right to work, and the right to choose there own partners in marriage.Islam demands that men and women be equal before God.
Today they are denied these rights by official government decree and their own husbands, fathers, and brothers (Men).
In resent years, between 1996-2001 during the rule of the Taliban was the worse women have been treated than at any other time in history.
Women are forbidden to work, leave the houre without a male escort or seek medical help from a male doctor.
The majority of Afghan women must cover themselves from head to toe, even their eyes.
Women in Afghanistan today are forced into marriages and denied a basic education.
The political and cultural position of Afghan women has improved substantialy with the fall of the Taliban. However, the repression still prevales in rural areas.
